2012 Marker Ski Bindings First Look
Royal family
Not so long ago when Marker introduced the first Royal Family bindings – DUKE and JESTER – we maintained the vision that this new category of bindings had the potential to revolutionize the freeride market.
This vision has become a reality: the DUKE, JESTER and their royal relatives now define a standard for the modern freeride binding.
The Royal Family not only gets bigger in 2012, we have also made some significant improvements to many of our most successful models. The JESTER is now available in a special JESTER PRO edition with a heavy duty horizontal torsion bar, and a DIN/ISO setting up to 18.
The the new SQUIRE SCHIZO and SQUIRE DEMO are also welcome additions to the family. The GRIFFON and JESTER get updated with the toe height adjustment feature. These new models and several cosmetic updates make up the new Royal Family.
The Duke & The Baron
The Duke and Baron are firmly established as the ONLY freeskiing bindings with AT, or climbing capability. Thanks to the superior power transmission of Marker’s signature Power Width design, these Royal riders deliver performance that can only be found from Marker.
Power-Width-Design for maximum power transmission*
- Low, level stand height
- Shortest frame of all hiking models in the market
- 10 mm wider interface than traditional bindings (not built around the historic 63 mm SL ski like conventional bindings)
- Connection brackets extend upward on the outside, for the ultimate power transmission
Patented BCT Back Country Technology uphill hiking mode
- Easy adjustment from ride to hike
- New: same hiking aid as the Tour bindings with 7° and 13° position
- Protected BCT lever in ski mode
- 40 mm backward movement in BC mode for better balanced ski swing weight and easier kick turns
- Recommended for skis over 76 mm
The Jester Pro
The Jester Pro has several added features that make it the ultimate binding for the competitive freeskier. The toe features a horizontal, torsion bar reinforcement, enhancing the power tranmission and lateral precision. The Jester Pro’s AFD is fixed, to increase both retention and power transmission.
The Squire
The lightest binding of its kind, the Squire is built on a 76mm minimum ski width platform and features the new Triple Pivot Compact Toe and Hollow Linkage Heel. The adjustable toe height allows precise adjustment to any boot lug. Marker’s freeride brake technology ensures optimum durability and clearance for switch riding.
The Jester & The Griffon
- Stand height without ski only 19 mm
- Power Width Design for superior power transmission from the big mtn. to the pipe
- Cross-axis toe spring and short overall length for better ski flex and lower swing weight
- No-pull-out screws
- NEW 4-13 DIN range on the Griffon
- NEW: the JESTER and the GRIFFON feature a height-adjustable AFD for alpine boots
A royal family going schizo
For the Skier who wants to dial in his standing position – either for changing conditions or to go from all-mountain skiing to pipe and park, the three distinct Schizo models deliver the ultimate versitility.

- Multi Stance Adjustor: 6cm fore/aft travel
- Stand height without ski 23 mm
