This board is what the name implies and so much more. this is Capita’s do it all camber board that can tackle the entire mountain without killing your wallet or in this case allow you to save up for the Contact Pro’s. My initial take on the board was that it felt way stiffer than the other Capitas I had ridden in the past but thats not a negative point but rather a very positive. My day at Alpine Meadows started out very firm and fast and the Quiver Killer held an amazing edge, especially  for a demo board which as anyone knows can be a crap shoot if you are getting a fresh out of the plastic stick or a board that has been ridden hard for many days and made its way into McDonals territory with people served. The Quiver killer throttled down groomers and sliced through some of the more chundery snow on the hill. Thats only half the tail of the day however. I deced to try the new 2011 Union Contact Pro bindings on for size during my demo of the board.

Quick note, I generally never demo boards and bindings at the same time,  because when you try too many new things at once in my opinion you do not get the real feel for the board or binding.

I took a risk on the rep Chris Wilmoth’s advice to try them out together on more of a whim than anything. The Contact Pros added a loose feel in the same manner as the original Contacts do but the added highback  height gives much more support. The Contacts made the board feel almost rocker like with a smooth initiation into turns without the nose dying as all rockered boards do but with more of the binding adding the feel than the board limping out. The response of the highback still allowed me to put the hammer down on steeper runs and also gave an ease of movement sense in tighter sections.

If you look as the total package you might be surprised to find out you won’t get worked at your local shop for this setup.  the Quiver Killer retails at $379 (yeah thats what I said too! 3 freakin 79 is a steal for a board these days) and the Contact Pros will retail at $219 which is cheaper than most Burton bindings. This is a board that won’t break the bank and won’t knuckle between your feet. The quiver killer alone a great board for anyone who just needs one ripping stick that can play in the park and still kill the steeps and the Contact Pros are a perfect blend between feel of the board and response of a biding.
